About Silver Inspiration Sanctuary
Silver Inspiration Sanctuary is a private outdoor garden space in the Verdugo Foothills of Los Angeles, within the historic community of Shadow Hills. Surrounded by open land and quiet roads, the sanctuary offers a rare sense of calm just beyond the edges of the city.
The land holds a long and layered story. Originally stewarded by the Tongva people, this area later became part of the agricultural and ranching landscape that shaped the foothills of Los Angeles. That history continues today through intentional land care, cultivated gardens, and spaces designed to honor both continuity and change.
Set on 1.5 acres of native gardens, Silver Inspiration Sanctuary is framed by California oaks, sages, grasses, and seasonal blooms. Winding paths lead visitors through shaded corridors and open clearings, creating moments of arrival, pause, and release. The garden is intentionally designed around thresholds, subtle transitions between spaces that echo the natural shifts people experience throughout life. Each passage offers a quiet invitation to slow down and notice where you are.
At the heart of the sanctuary is a world-class waterfall and amphitheater water feature. This landmark design received international recognition in 1987, earning top honors at a global competition. Today, the waterfall remains a defining element of the space, offering sound, movement, and reflection as a natural gathering point and visual anchor.
The sanctuary is part of a larger historic ranch property and includes mature citrus groves more than forty years old, a working victory garden, and cultivated landscape areas that reflect a long-standing relationship with the land. These elements contribute to the sanctuary’s sense of continuity, stewardship, and seasonal rhythm while preserving its quiet and restorative character.
Adjacent portions of the property include Farm Friends programs operated separately through Shadow Hills Riding Club, a nonprofit organization. These areas may be visible from select locations within the sanctuary grounds. Silver Inspiration Sanctuary reservations do not include animal interaction or participation in Farm Friends activities, which are offered independently through the nonprofit.
